What you actually pay

SimpleKPI is $79 a month, or $67 a month billed annually ($804 a year). If one person builds two dashboards for one office TV and nobody else ever needs to edit, Geckoboard is a fair deal at this size. Worth saying plainly, because it changes fast.
The gap opens at the meters. Every dashboard past the two included costs $24 a month, every editor past the first costs $20, and every extra screen is another $20. Say your team of eight has three people building across five dashboards: that's $79 plus $40 in editors plus $72 in dashboards, so $191 a month before a second TV goes up. The same team on SimpleKPI pays $79, because nothing is counted.
At 25 people, it depends what those people do. If 24 of them only watch, Geckoboard's free viewer seats mean Essentials can still hold, and that's to its credit. SimpleKPI's AI works inside the product: it forecasts, flags anomalies and explains why a number moved, included with no credits or metering. Geckoboard's AI offering is a pre-release MCP connector that hands your metrics to your own Claude or ChatGPT for analysis elsewhere, and its FAQ notes that 'data limits may apply' without publishing any numbers.
Forecasts and anomaly flags, built in
Geckoboard has no forward projection anywhere on its site, and no automatic anomaly detection either. Its alerting is thresholds you set by hand, and its trendlines plot history only. SimpleKPI includes both on every account.
A real formula builder for calculated KPIs
Geckoboard aggregates (sum, average, min, max, latest) and can plot two metrics side by side, but it has no formula builder and can't combine data from different sources. A ratio like revenue per head has to be precomputed upstream in a spreadsheet or via its API. SimpleKPI builds calculated KPIs natively.
Analysis isn't gated to a higher tier
Geckoboard puts drilldown and source-data views on Performance and Enterprise, and even there the root-cause work is manual exploration. SimpleKPI's root-cause analysis ships in the single $79 plan, and its targets carry full red, amber and green status where Geckoboard's indicators are red or green only.
